Air source heat pumps are now fast becoming the most relevant and cost-effective alternative to a gas or oil boiler, for heating your home or business.
If you are completely off gas or oil and reliant on electric only, or LPG only (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), then an air source heat pump is very likely going to be the perfect upgrade to help you lower your carbon footprint and combat rising energy bills.
Collectively, the 26 million gas boilers in UK homes produce twice as much climate-heating carbon emissions as all the nation’s gas-fired power stations put together.
UK power stations produce around 41 million tonnes of carbon, versus 92 million tonnes for domestic boilers.
Data from OFGEM also shows that domestic gas boilers collectively produce eight times as much nitrogen dioxide as all the gas fired power stations in the UK. NO2, is an air pollutant linked to tens of thousands of early deaths every year in the UK.
Although gas boilers will be banned in new builds from 2025, we understand that fossil fuel heating is still going to be with us for a very long time so we are not turning our back on fitting boilers because in many instances an air source heat pump is just not suitable for many homes in the UK, due to poor insulation or siting issues.
This said, as a business, we are on this journey to promote renewable and low carbon heating wherever the opportunity presents itself and where a property ticks all the boxes for an air source heat pump installation, we pride ourselves on having the knowledge and expertise to provide the correct advice and skills within our business to install an air source heat pump as a genuine alternative to a boiler.
