Power Flushing
Do you recognise any of these symptoms?
- Cold spots across radiators?
- Noisy boiler that switches on and off too often?
- High fuel bills?
- Radiators not getting to full temperature, take a long time to heat up?
- Premature pump failure?
Why would you need Power Flushing? It is most likely you have a build up of sludge in the pipework, radiators and possibly the boiler.
There are different types of sludge but the majority of it is black iron oxide contamination which is a result of radiators corroding from the inside.
There are a number of different reasons why this occurs but the main one is lack of corrosion inhibitors or not flushing the system properly when installed.
Once this reaction inside the radiators starts it takes an accumulative effect on your system as heating the sludge also makes the problem worse restricting pipes and forcing the pump to work harder than it should to circulate.
Once the problem gets to the stage where you actually notice the performance of the system reducing it is probably only fixable by power flushing. The acids used to move sludge from pipes are not usually effective enough circulated just by the force of your central heating pump hence the need for the power flushing machine and more powerful pumping process.
The method we use to power flush also incorporates two large magnets which collects iron oxide particles while the flush is taking place, preventing them from re-entering the system.
We also agitate the radiators to move as much of the sludge from each radiator until we can see the water clearing.
Finally we neutralise the system to ensure all acids are removed from the system and dose with corrosion inhibitor on completion.
We also recommend ADEY magnetic filtration products otherwise known as ‘Magniclean filters’ which can be fitted onto most central heating systems to collect iron oxide particles before they enter your boiler causing premature boiler failure.
This is a great product which we recommend on all boiler exchanges and after power flushing systems to protect your investment all the time the heating system is running.
